Apple on Wednesday seeded the third beta of its upcoming iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 updates to public beta testers. The public betas come one day after the release of the developer betas.
Public builds of iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 can be downloaded via the Apple Beta Software Program website by users signed up to take part in the testing program. If you’re interested in trying out the betas of the upcoming operating systems you can sign up for the program by clicking the same link.
This is the last time a beta will use certificates like this, as future betas will be linked to an Apple ID for both developers and public beta testers.
The iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 updates bring a number of new emoji characters, including shaking head, pink heart, blue heart, gray heart, donkey, moose, blackbird, goose, wing, jellyfish, hyacinth, ginger, fan, comb, left and right facing hand options, and more.
Safari Web Push notifications are also included, but require web developers to add support. The feature will allow users to add a website to their Home Screen and the website can send them push notifications.
A new add to Home Screen option for third-party browsers allows users to add a favorite Chrome site directly to their Home Screen. The HomeKit architecture upgrade that was pulled from iOS 16.2 has returned.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver iPhone or iPad. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
