Apple on Wednesday released a Rapid Security Response update for iPhones running the iOS 16.4 beta, marking the third test of the RSR update functionality since the feature first debuted in iOS 16. Due to the small file size of the file, this is likely a test update.
The iOS Security Response 16.4 (a) is available via the standard Software Update mechanism in the Settings app. It is a quick update, requiring just a couple of minutes to download and prepare the update. A quick restart and the update is installed. Actual updates including security code will likely be just as quick.
After the update has been installed, the system will show an updated version of iOS 16.4 (a). By tapping on the version number in the About section of Settings, information is displayed about the installed iOS version and the Rapid Security Response update. Users will be able to roll back the security update if they so desire.
If you ever need to roll back from a Rapid Security Response, you can do so by following the steps found here.
