Apple Music Classical Service Launches Later This Month, Now Available for Pre-Order on the App Store

Apple’s long-expected classical music app will launch at the end of March and the music app is now available for pre-order in the App Store.

Apple in August 2021 acquired the classical music streaming service Primephonic and announced plans to fold the service into Apple Music. The service offered a classical music listening experience with search and browse functionality optimized for classical, premium-quality audio, handpicked expert recommendations, and extensive contextual details on repertoire and recordings.

TechCrunch reports that Apple Music Classical will offer a simple interface for engaging with classical works. Users will be able to search recordings by composer, work, conductor, or catalog number. Music can be streamed in high-quality audio of up to 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless. Thousands of recordings will also be available in Apple’s immersive spatial audio.

Apple has commissioned high-resolution digital portraits of famous composers like Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach for the app, with more artwork to be added over time. Apple has been working with classical music artists and institutions to offer exclusive content and recordings.

‌Apple Music‌ Classical will only support iOS devices running iOS 15.4 or newer. An Android version of the app will arrive “soon.” Apple Music‌ Classical also created a new @appleclassical Twitter account.

Apple Music Classical is included as a part of your Apple Music subscription.
