Apple-financed short film “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and, the Horse,” has won an Oscar for best animated short film at the 95th Academy Awards. The BBC production is a “magical fable” by writer and artist Charlie Mackesy.
Charlie Mackesy’s best-selling book comes to life in this beautifully animated film from NoneMore and Bad Robot Productions. Follow the unlikely bond between four friends as they explore the meaning of kindness, courage, and hope.
The animated short stars Tom Hollander as The Mole, Idris Elba as The Fox, Gabriel Byrne as The Horse, and Jude Coward Nicoll as The Boy.
Apple Original Films acquired the production last year and the animated short was shown on Apple TV+ and the BBC during Christmas 2022.
Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted a congratulatory message to the team involved in making “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse.”
This year’s Oscar is Apple’s first for an animated short and was Apple’s only win at this year’s Oscars. Apple received only one other Oscar nomination, for Brian Tyree Henry for supporting actor in Apple TV+ drama “Causeway.”
