WhatsApp Messenger has begun rolling out picture-in-picture support in its latest iOS app update, to allow users to carry on a video call in a small window while conducting other activities on their iPhone.
Previously, if users needed to do something on their phone while conducting a WhatsApp video call, they had to swipe out of WhatsApp, which paused the video for the person they were on the call with.
Once the update is downloaded and installed, swiping out of the call will automatically minimize into a picture-in-picture window that continues to be visible even while accessing other apps, so you and the other person you’re talking to can continue your conversation.
What’s New
• With support for iOS Picture in Picture (PiP), you can now multitask during a WhatsApp call without your video being paused.
• You can now add captions when sending documents
• Added support for longer group subjects and descriptions to make it easier to describe your groups
• You can now create personalized avatars and use them as stickers and profile photos. Go to Settings > Avatar to get started.
