New Report Claims iPhone 15 to Feature RAM Improvements, 8GB for Pro Models

According to a new report from Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will boast more RAM. The report says Apple will “bump up the capacity and specifications” of RAM for iPhone 15 models.

While no specific details were provided about the increased RAM, TrendForce has previously said iPhone 15 Pro models would likely be equipped with 8GB of RAM, a 2GB bump from the 6GB in the iPhone 14 Pro models. While the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will likely stand pat at 6GB of RAM, the non-Pro iPhone models could be upgraded to faster LPDDR5 RAM, just like the iPhone 14 Pro models were last year.

If the iPhone 15 Pro does see a RAM increase, it will be the first RAM bump for the iPhone since the iPhone 12 Pro sported 6GB of RAM.

An increase in RAM benefits multitasking on the iPhone, as it allows more apps to be open in the background at once. The increase in RAM and the much-rumored A17 Bionic chip should provide a nice overall performance boost for the new handsets.

Apple will likely unveil the iPhone 15 lineup at a media event to be held in September.
