Apple has released macOS Big Sur 11.7.4, which includes a fix for grayed-out or missing icons in Safari Favorites. The update release notes didn’t mention any other updates or security patches.
As mentioned by AppleInsider, users had complained that after updating to Big Sur 11.7.3 all favorites web page “icons” were greyed out or missing in the Safari Favorites page.
While macOS Big Sur is more than two years old, Apple still provides updates for the OS, as many Mac users with older Macs still use the operating system. The new version of macOS Big Sur 11.7.4 doesn’t have any security CVE numbers attached to it, so it is more than likely a bug fix update.
The update will be available in the macOS BigSur System Preferences. If you have automatic updates enabled the update will take care of itself.
