Apple’s Rumored 27-inch Mini-LED Display Delayed Again

Apple’s much-rumored 27-inch external display with mini-LED backlighting has been delayed again. The monitor will not make the expected first-quarter 2023 launch, says display industry analyst Ross Young. Young is the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC).

Young, who has an above-average track record about future Apple products, told MacRumors that he has not seen any signs of the display entering mass production, suggesting that a launch is not imminent. Young has expected the launch would take place around June 2022 and then in October, and then in Q1 2023. He hasn’t mentioned an updated timeframe in which we might see the monitor’s release.

Young has said the display would support ProMotion, allowing up to a 120Hz refresh rate. While it’s possible that the 27-inch monitor will be a next-generation version of the Studio Display, it could also be a new model positioned between the Studio Display and the higher-end Pro Display XDR.
