The film follows video game salesman Henk Rogers, who traveled to the Soviet Union in 1989 to resolve a rights dispute that ultimately allowed Nintendo to license Tetris for its new Game Boy console, which led to the game becoming a smash hit globally on multiple computing and gaming platforms. Taron Egerton (“Rocketman” and “Kingsman: The Secret Service) stars as Rogers. Nikita Efremov stars as Alexey Pajitnov, the Russian-born American game developer who created Tetris in Soviet-era Russia. The film is directed by Jon S. Baird and is based on a script written by Noah Pink.
“Based on a true story, ‘Tetris’ is a Cold War–era thriller on steroids, with double-crossing villains, unlikely heroes, and a nail-biting race to the finish,” said Apple.
