Apple on Tuesday seeded the second beta of tvOS 16.3 to developers for testing. The new beta release comes nearly one month after the initial beta of the upcoming Apple TV operating system.
The tvOS 16.3 beta is compatible with the Apple TV 4K (1st and 2nd generation) and the Apple TV HD. The new beta can be downloaded to a compatible Apple TV that has the proper profile installed, which can be done by downloading it onto the Apple TV using Xcode.
tvOS updates are usually minor ones, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes and performance improvements rather than public-facing changes.
Apple shares some information on tvOS releases in its tvOS support document, which is updated after each tvOS launch. The document has not been updated as yet. We don’t as yet know what’s included in the tvOS 16.3 update, but this article will be updated if we find anything new.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Apple TV, especially early betas of new operating systems. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
