Apple has acknowledged the issue that some iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max users are seeing, with horizontal lines flashing across their device’s display when it is powered on.
Last month came reports that users were seeing one or more green and yellow lines flash across the screen before disappearing a few seconds later when the device is being turned on. The users said Apple Support had informed them the issue is not a hardware defect but is instead caused by a bug in iOS 16.
Now, in a new memo (shared by MacRumors), Apple has acknowledged the issue, confirming it’s being investigated and an iOS update to address it will be released soon. iPhone 14 Pro customers may “report that when they power on or unlock their phone, they briefly see horizontal lines flash across the screen,” the memo says. “Apple is aware of the issue and a software update is coming soon that will resolve the issue,” the memo adds.
Apple is currently beta testing iOS 16.3, and the beta could include a fix for the issue. However, users will likely be forced to wait until early 2023 for the public release of iOS 16.3.
