Apple on Tuesday seeded the fourth beta of tvOS 16.2 to developers for testing. The new beta release comes two weeks following the third beta release.
The tvOS 16.2 beta is compatible with the Apple TV 4K (1st and 2nd generation) and the Apple TV HD. The new beta can be downloaded to a compatible Apple TV that has the proper profile installed, which can be done by downloading it onto the Apple TV using Xcode.
tvOS updates are usually minor ones, focusing on under-the-hood bug fixes and performance improvements rather than public-facing changes.
the tvOS 16.2 beta enables Siri voice recognition on the Apple TV to provide a more personalized experience.
The new feature allows Siri to personalize your Apple TV features by recognizing your voice and switching to your Apple TV user profile. The feature will play your music, make personalized recommendations, and more. The feature supports up to six family members.
The new feature should be available to the public when tvOS 16.2 is released later this year.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Apple TV, especially early betas of new operating systems. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
