Twitter Inc. is reportedly now asking dozens of fired employees to return to the company. Elon Musk laid off roughly half of the company’s employees last week, following his $44 billion acquisition.
Bloomberg reports that some of those being asked to return were laid off by mistake, “according to two people familiar with the moves.” Others were reportedly fired before “management realized that their work and experience may be necessary to build the new features Musk envisions.”
Twitter let go of approximately 3,700 employees this week, as Musk works to trim costs following his acquisition.
Many employees learned they lost their job after their access to company-wide systems, like email and Slack, were suspended.
Bloomberg says Twitter has close to 3,700 employees remaining, “according to people familiar with the matter.”
