Man Robbed Following Purchase of 300 iPhones at Fifth Avenue Apple Store in NYC

A 27-year-old man who purchased 300 iPhones from Apple Fifth Avenue on Monday morning was punched in the face and robbed shortly after leaving the store, reports 1010Wins Radio in New York.

The unnamed man, who was carrying the iPhones in three bags, was walking to his car at 1:45 a.m. when another car pulled up next to him. Two men jumped out and demanded that he hand over the bags. The victim decided to resist and was punched in the face before the thieves made off with one of the bags containing 125 iPhones worth $95,000. The victim was not seriously injured and refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

Police said the man has often made purchases of numerous iPhones from the Fifth Avenue Store for resale through his small business. It was not clear why the man made the purchase at 1:00 a.m. He was possibly targeted for the robbery due to his previous purchasing patterns.

The Apple Store Fifth Avenue location is open 24 hours a day. Apple also had a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale going on at the time, which the thieves may have been aware of.

The NYPD is continuing its investigation of the robbery. It has not yet released a description of the suspects or their vehicle.
