How to Use Siri to Hang Up a Phone or FaceTime Call on Your iPhone

Sure, you can use Siri to initiate a voice call or a FaceTime call but did you know you can also use Siri to end a phone call by simply saying “Hey Siri, hang up”? Unfortunately, the feature isn’t enabled by default, but it’s quite easy to turn on.

How to Use Siri to Hang Up a Phone or FaceTime Call on Your iPhone

Here’s how you can hang up phone calls with Siri:

    1. Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone running iOS 16
    2. Go to “Siri & Search”
    3. Tap “Call Hang Up”
    4. Toggle the switch for “Call Hang Up” to the ON position

That’s all it takes!

Now, when you’re on a phone call, Siri will be quietly listening for the “Hey Siri hang up” or “Hey Siri, end call” voice command. You can say either phrase any time you’re on a call to end the call.

Don’t worry, all voice input is processed on your iPhone, and transcripts and audio are never sent to Apple.

Siri voice commands like these are quite useful for those of us that make calls on speakerphone or that use AirPods during a call. This saves time by not needing to grab your iPhone out of your tight jeans pocket, or if your hands are otherwise occupied. (I mean like if you’re typing or carrying something in your hands. Get your mind out of the gutter!)
