Another iOS 16 bug – this time related to cellular data and SIM card support – is impacting some owners of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
In a memo shared by MacRumors, Apple has acknowledged that some users of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max may see a message that reads “SIM Not Supported” appear on their device.
After the pop-up message appears, the iPhone may entirely freeze, says the memo. Apple says it’s “investigating” the issue and says that it’s not a hardware problem, and urges customers to keep their software up to date.
Until a fix is delivered, Apple advises customers to wait a few minutes to see if the message disappears. If it doesn’t, customers should NOT attempt to restore the device. Instead, customers should head to an Apple Store or authorized service provider where technical assistance can be received, and the issue resolved.
Apple is currently testing iOS 16.1 with developers and public beta testers, with a launch expected at the end of this month. Hopefully, the update will include a fix for the above-described issue.
