Display analyst Ross Young said in a tweet today that was shared with Super Followers (via MacRumors) that Apple has yet to finalize any decisions related to the size of the delay and the display material for the 2024 iPhone SE 4.
The company is reportedly considering the use of 6.1-inch OLED displays from two suppliers, as well as 5.7 to 6.1-inch LCDs from two suppliers. This indicates that it is currently unclear whether Apple will go with a 5.7-inch display or a 6.1-inch display, and which technology that display will use, OLED or LCD.
Considering the iPhone SE is positioned as a lower-cost option for iPhone buyers, an OLED display may be too expensive. However, OLED panels may have come down in price enough for use in the SE, since it won’t launch for another two years.
No matter which size or panel Apple goes with Young believes the iPhone SE 4 will feature an all-display design with a notch, indicating that Apple may finally bring Face ID to the low-cost iPhone.
