Apple Honors Queen Elizabeth II With Homepage Tribute

Apple has updated its homepage to honor Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier today. The tribute features a photograph of Queen Elizabeth taken by Dorothy Wilding in 1952.

Queen Elizabeth II was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, serving as the face of her country for seven decades, died today at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She was 96.

She died “peacefully” Thursday afternoon, Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” Buckingham Palace said.

Queen Elizabeth II was preceded in death by her husband, Prince Philip, who spent more than seven decades supporting the queen. The Duke of Edinburgh, Britain’s longest-serving consort, died in April 2021 at age 99.

Elizabeth and Philip were married for over 70 years and had four royal offspring: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.

In a statement, Charles III said that the Queen’s death will be “deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”
