Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says Apple’s upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are “well into development and testing.” Gurman says there is a chance the notebooks may see a release later this year.
Gurman’s remarks came in the latest edition of Gurman’s “Power On” newsletter. He says that while Apple plans to release the new MacBook Pro models “as early as this fall.” However, he says there is a chance production could be delayed due to supply chain issues or other disruptions.
While some reports indicated that Apple’s M2 Pro and M2 Max chips may be Apple’s first chips fabricated using TSMC 3nm process, it looks to be increasingly likely that both chips will remain with the 5nm process. Those chips will still boast improved performance, asĀ Apple is expected to move from TSMC’s standard 5nm process “N5” to its more advanced 5nm process known as “N5P.”
Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo earlier in AugustĀ said Apple suppliers will begin mass production of new 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro models in the fourth quarter of 2022. The new MacBook Pro and iPad Pro will likely be powered by 5nm Apple Silicon.
