Apple Removes First Batch of Apple Arcade Games – 15 Games Removed

15 games were removed from Apple Arcade earlier this week, due to developer contract expirations. Just over two weeks ago, the service listed the first batch of titles would be removed.

Last month, Apple added a section to the Arcade area of the App Store, entitled “Leaving Arcade Soon” and also listed the games that would be leaving, but did not designate when the games would be leaving.

Games removed from Apple Arcade include:

  • Projection: First Light
  • Lifeslide
  • Various Daylife
  • EarthNight
  • Atone: Heart of the Elder Tree
  • Over the Alps
  • Dread Nautical
  • Cardpocalypse
  • Towaga: Among Shadows
  • Dead End Job
  • Don’t Bug Me!
  • Spelldrifter
  • Spidersaurs
  • Explottens
  • BattleSky Brigade: Harpooner

Apple also published a new support document in July, explaining what happens when a game is removed from its all-you-can-play Apple Arcade subscription service.

In the document, Apple says that users who download a game before it is officially removed from Apple Arcade can continue to play the game for at least two weeks after:

If a game is leaving Apple Arcade

Games might sometimes leave Apple Arcade. If you download a game before it leaves Arcade, you can play the game for at least two weeks after. If you try to launch an Arcade game that is no longer playable, you receive a No Longer Available message.

After a game leaves Arcade, the game developer might choose to make their game available on the App Store. These games might vary from the Arcade version. If the developer makes their game available on the App Store and allows you to load your saved progress, you can pick up where you left off in the Arcade version.

Once a game is no longer playable, users who attempt to launch an Apple Arcade game that is no longer playable will instead see a “No Longer Available” message.

After a game has been removed from Apple Arcade, developers can choose to make their game available in the App Store for all users. The App Store version may differ from the Apple Arcade version.
