MacBook Air With M2 Chip Available to Order Starting July 8, Hits Shelves July 15

Apple today announced that its new M2-powered MacBook Air will be available to order starting Friday, July 8 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. Deliveries to customers and in-store availability will begin Friday, July 15. Customers will be able to order the new MacBook Air through Apple.com or the Apple Store app.

Apple unveiled the new MacBook Air during the WWDC 2022 keynote address earlier this month. Apple said at the time that availability would begin in July.

The new MacBook Air boasts an all-new thin design and improved performance. The new MacBook Air also sports a larger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack with support for high-impedance headphones, a four-speaker sound system, up to 18 hours of battery life, and MagSafe charging.  It is available in four finishes — silver, space gray, midnight, and starlight.

Apple says the M2 improves on the performance per watt of the M1 with an 18% faster CPU, a 35% more powerful GPU, and a 40% faster Neural Engine. It also delivers 50% more memory bandwidth compared to the M1 and can access up to 24GB of fast unified memory.

MacBook Air with M2 starts at $1,199 (US) and $1,099 (US) for education. Additional technical specifications are available at apple.com/macbook-air-m2.
