Apple is looking into recent user reports that the iPad mini 6 may have issues with charging properly following an update to iPadOS 15.5. MacRumors recently shared a memo sent to service providers discussing the issue.
iPad mini 6 owners on the MacRumors and Apple Support forums (1, 2, 3, 4) have reported issues with charging their device following the installation of the latest iPadOS update.
In the memo, Apple shares that it is aware that some users may report the latest iPad mini as being unable to charge following the device’s update to iPad OS 15.5. Apple tells service providers and retail staff that restarting the device works as a temporary fix until a permanent fix has been released.
Apple all but confirmed that the charging issue is a software problem, as the memo explicitly says that a hardware replacement of the iPad or its battery will not solve the problem. The issue may receive a fix in Apple’s upcoming iPadOS 15.6, which is currently undergoing beta testing.
