Apple seeded the second betas of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 to developers on Wednesday, and as noted in Apple’s release notes for the update, they introduce support for backing up your device over LTE.
iPhone and iPad users are now able to back up their devices over an LTE connection, as well as a 5G or WiFi connection.
As of iOS 15, customers have been able to back up their devices over 5G if no WiFi connection is available. However, LTE customers lacked the option.
While LTE connections are slower than 5G and WiFi, and backups can use up quite a chunk of data, many 4G cellular plans available today offer unlimited data usage.
