A report by Taiwanese research firm TrendForce claims all four of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 models will boast 6GB of RAM.
The report says both iPhone 14 Pro models will be upgraded to faster and more power-efficient LPDDR5 RAM, while the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max models are expected to continue to use LPDDR4X RAM.
That means that if TrendForce is correct, the iPhone 14 lineup would be as follows:
- iPhone 14: 6GB (LPDDR4X)
- iPhone 14 Max: 6GB (LPDDR4X)
- iPhone 14 Pro: 6GB (LPDDR5)
- iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6GB (LPDDR5)
The report does jibe with information shared by well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who also predicted that all four iPhone 14 models would be equipped with 6GB of RAM and that iPhone 14 Pro models would use the faster LPDDR5 RAM modules.
TrendForce also indicates that iPhone 14 Pro models may start with a base of 256GB of storage, (iPhone 13 Pro models start at 128GB), but the chart it shared shows the storage capacities as “TBD,” so this information is a bit iffier.
In addition to the faster RAM, two other features are expected to be exclusive to iPhone 14 Pro models, an upgraded 48-megapixel rear camera lens and be powered by an A16 chip. The standard iPhone 14 models are expected to still be powered by an A15 chip.
Apple’s new handsets will likely be announced at a September event if it is not delayed by any significant supply chain issues.
