Original Apple-1 Computer Bearing Steve Wozniak Autograph Sells for $340,100

A rare Apple-1 computer that includes original components and Woz’s signature has been auctioned off on eBay for a six-figure amount.

The Schlumberger 2 Apple-1 is a second-batch Apple-1 computer that was originally purchased by an executive at oil services company Schlumberger Overseas in 1977. The Apple-1 is believed to be one of the last Apple-1 computers assembled in the Jobs family garage in late 1976 or early 1977.

The unit was refurbished to full working order and was signed by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. It sold for $340,100. At the time of listing on May 31, it was believed to be the only model with Wozniak’s signature on the Motorola 6502 processor. The Apple co-founder signed it for the seller in 2021 when both parties met in Dubai.

The listing, which saw 112 bids, ended on Sunday, June 12.

In 2021, Mr. Grewal had the opportunity to meet Steve Wozniak, aka Woz, who autographed the Apple-1. Woz chose to sign the CPU of this particular Apple-1 and was enthusiastic to see one of his creations in such remarkable condition. Only a few Apple-1 computers bear the signature of their creator, and this is the only example known to be signed on its iconic white ceramic 6502 processor.

According to the seller, the Apple-1 “has been professionally restored” to be almost entirely composed of original parts. The AAPL Collection noted that while it contains “almost all period-correct components” that would fit an original Apple-1 NTI board as it was manufactured in 1976, four Texas Instruments-branded ICs had been used that were dated 1977.

The setup includes a keyboard, monitor, and cassette player from that era. The computer is fully operational.
