Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple to Announce Mixed Reality Headset at Special January Event

Apple will debut its long-rumored and awaited mixed reality headset at a January 2023 event, says Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a tweet today, Kuo offered a  timeline for Apple’s mixed reality headset, which, while there had been speculation, did not make an appearance during yesterday’s WWDC keynote.

Kuo believes Apple will hold a January event to debut the headset, making tools for developers available “within 2-4 weeks after the event.” Pre-orders for the headset will start in the second quarter of 2023 with the public availability of the headset before next year’s WWDC.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, recently said that the headset’s launch will likely be delayed until 2023 due to development issues, including overheating issues from at least one chip, as well as camera and software challenges.

The headset is expected to cost somewhere around $3,000.
