Gurman says the revamped iPad experience will be one of the biggest upgrades to be announced at WWDC 2022 when iPadOS 16 is unveiled. iPadOS 16 will feature a redesigned multitasking interface that makes it easier to swap between tasks and see which apps are open, allowing users to resize windows.
Apple will also provide new ways for users to deal with multiple apps at once, providing a much more Mac-like multitasking experience.
While Apple’s iPad Pro models are now powered by the same M1 chip as the Mac lineup, the move to the M1 on the iPad Pro has not yet resulted in the iPad offering a more laptop or desktop experience.
iPadOS 16 will debut on Monday, June 6, at the WWDC 2022 keynote address. The new iPad operating system will be released several months later, sometime in the early fall, alongside iOS 16.
