Apple has released updated firmware for the MagSafe Battery Pack for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models that offer support for MagSafe accessories.
MacRumors reports the updated firmware began being rolled out over the air on Tuesday. The updated version of the MagSafe Battery Pack carries a 2.7.b.0 version number.
To determine if your Battery Pack has been updated, do the following:
- Attach the MagSafe Battery Pack to a MagSafe-compatible iPhone.
- Open up the Settings app.
- Tap on “General.”
- Select “About” and then choose “MagSafe Battery Pack.”
- The installed firmware version is listed at the bottom of the “MagSafe Battery Pack” section.
There is no way to force an update for the MagSafe Battery Pack firmware, but it does need to be connected to an iPhone for the update to be performed.
Apple does not provide release notes for these types of updates, so we do not know what features or bug fixes might be included in the software.
The last update for the MagSafe Battery Pack firmware occurred in December, and the prior firmware version number is 2.5.b.0.
