Apple Slowing Down on Hiring to Fill ‘Genius’ Roles at Retail Stores

Apple is slowing down when it comes to filling technical support (Genius) roles at some of its retail stores, says a report from Bloomberg. The report says employees at some locations have been informed that empty Genius positions will not be filled when a Genius leaves the company.

The report says that in recent weeks, Apple has informed some stores that it won’t be filling Genius positions that became available after employee departures. Bloomberg’s sources, who asked not to be identified, said the company also retracted verbal job offers for such roles in some cases.

However, Apple isn’t actively laying-off workers or enacting a widespread hiring freeze, say the sources.

Apple has declined to comment, and the Cupertino company continues to advertise for Genius positions at its stores on its website.
