While the majority of Apple products are manufactured in China, the Cupertino company also makes use of Foxconn facilities in locations like India and Brazil to assemble its iPhones. The company has now begun assembling the iPhone 13 in Brazil, but the iPhone mini and iPhone Pro models will continue to be assembled elsewhere.
9to5Mac reports that one of its readers, João Menicucci, recently bought an iPhone 13 in Brazil. The box indicates that the product was “Assembled in Brazil.” The model number, MLPF3BR/A, confirms that the device was indeed assembled in the country, as the units sold in Brazil that are imported from China have the identifier “BZ/A” instead.
However, it appears that only the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 is being assembled at Foxconn Brazil, located in Jundiai, São Paulo.
MacMagazine reports that Apple updated its iPhone 13 documentation at ANATEL (the Brazilian telecom regulator) on January 24, 2022, which lists Foxconn Brazil as a manufacturing facility for the handset. The documents also show that the iPhone 13 mini nor the 13 Pro models will continue to be assembled elsewhere.
Apple has a history of assembling more affordable models, like the iPhone SE and iPhone 11, in Brazil. This makes it a bit surprising that the company will not be using Brazilian facilities to manufacture its lower-priced iPhone 13 mini model.
