Analyst Pu: Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset Delayed Until Early 2023

It has been long-rumored that Apple is working on new augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), but we still don’t know for sure when these products might hit shelves.

Some analysts have said Apple’s mixed reality headset will hit the market in late 2022, yet there are those that see things differently. Analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities says that the product may be delayed until 2023.

In a report shared by 9to5Mac, Pu says that Apple’s new headset may face a slight delay for the first quarter of 2023. The analyst also believes that Apple will sell something between 1 million and 1.5 million units of its new headset in its first year.

The report also notes that the headset’s in-house designed chip will be one of the differentiators between it and competitors. The device is expected to boast more than 10 sensors (including cameras) combined.

Apple could unveil the headsets late this year, with the devices hitting shelves in early 2023. Apple has done so with previous releases, including the Apple Watch and HomePod.
