Verizon Announces 5G Ultra Wideband Rollout Ahead of Schedule – Will Cover 175 Million People by End of 2022

Verizon on Thursday announced that its 5G Ultra Wideband technology rollout is ahead of schedule and that the faster connections speeds will be available to 175 million people by the end of 2022.

Verizon (and AT&T) began expanding their 5G networks in January with the deployment of C-Band 5G spectrum. Verizon said it would bring 5G Ultra Wideband connectivity to 1,700 cities in January, making it available to over 100 million people.

Verizon says that its increased goal of making its 5G UW available to 175 million people at the end of 2022 has been made possible by “the incredible pace of deployment achieved by Verizon’s network engineering team.”

5G Ultra Wideband from Verizon is up to 10x faster than LTE speeds and can provide download speeds of over a gigabit per second.

Verizon also announced its +play (plus play) option, which allows users to discover, purchase and manage some of their favorite streaming subscriptions across entertainment, audio, gaming, fitness, lifestyle and more – including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, discovery+, and AMC+, Netflix, Peloton, Live Nation’s Veeps, WW International, Inc., A+E Networks, The Athletic, Calm, Duolingo, and TelevisaUnivision’s Vix+, among numerous others.
