Apple unveiled new versions of the iPhone SE and iPad Air at Tuesday’s “Peek Performance” event. Both devices are now available for pre-order.
The new, third-generation iPhone SE starts at $429, up from $399 on the 2020 model it replaces. The new handset is powered by the same A15 Bionic chip as the one used in the iPhone 13, 5G connectivity, and up to 256GB of storage.
The third-generation iPhone SE also boasts a higher-performance 12MP Wide camera system, offering a range of improvements and photography features including Deep Fusion, Photographic Styles, Portrait Mode, and Smart HDR 4.
The new fifth-generation iPad Air starts from $599 and boasts up to 256GB of storage and features Apple’s homegrown M1 chip that had previously only been available in Apple’s iPad Pro.
The iPad Air supports the $129 second-generation Apple Pencil, as well as the $299 Magic Keyboard with trackpad.
The iPad Air is available in a variety of new colors. The new tablet features an Ultra Wide front camera that supports Center Stage for a more natural and automatic video conferencing experience, a USB-C port with up to 2x faster transfer speeds, and 5G availability on the cellular models.
Deliveries of the new iPhone SE and iPad Air will begin starting on Friday, March 18.
