Apple on Tuesday seeded the third betas of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 to developers. The third beta releases come one week after the second betas.
Beta builds of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 are available to developers through the Apple Developer Center or over the air on the devices with the proper configuration installed.
iOS and iPadOS 15.4 bring significant changes to iOS 15, which was released last fall. iPhone 12 and 13 owners can now use Face ID while wearing a mask with no Apple Watch required for authentication.
Ipad users will find that iPadOS 15.4 finally brings the Universal Control feature, which when paired with a Mac running macOS Monterey 12.3 allows multiple Macs and iPads to be controlled with a single cursor and keyboard.
The second iOS 15.4 beta brought support for the “Tap to Pay on iPhone” that allows NFC-compatible iPhones to accept payments through Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets, without requiring additional hardware.
Other new features include full 120Hz ProMotion support for app animations on iPhone 13 Pro models, the toggling off of notifications for Shortcuts automations, EU vaccine certificates can be stored in the Wallet app, keyboard brightness controls are now available in the Control Center on the iPad, iCloud Keychain notes, the ability adding custom email domains to iCloud Mail right on a device, an Apple Card widget, and a SharePlay option in the share sheet.
Last but not least, and most importantly for many users, There are 37 new emojis, including those with a melting face, a biting lip, heart hands, bubbles, eggs, troll, low battery, coral, lotus, and many more.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver iPhone or iPad. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
