Apple today released watchOS 8.4.2, a minor update to its watchOS 8 operating system for the Apple Watch. The release of watchOS 8.4.2 comes two weeks following the release of watchOS 8.4.
watchOS 8.4.2 can be downloaded for free through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to “General” -> “Software Update.” The Apple Watch needs to have at least 50% battery charge, needs to be on a charger, and needs to be in the range of the iPhone.
Apple’s release notes for the update say watchOS 8.4.2 fixes unspecified bugs and provides security updates for the Apple Watch. There is no additional information available on what else is included in the new software, but if we hear anything, we’ll update this article.
