Apple on Monday released macOS Big Sur 11.6.4, which is a security update to the macOS Big Sur operating system for the Mac. The update comes two weeks following the release of macOS Big Sur 11.6.3.
The macOS Big Sur 11.6.3 update is free and can be downloaded on all compatible Macs using the Software Update section of System Preferences.
Apple’s release notes for the update say macOS Big Sur 11.6.4 “improves the security of macOS” and is recommended for all users.
The update is intended for Mac users who intend to stay on macOS Big Sur for a while longer, such as to preserve software compatibility.
Apple has also released a 2022-002 macOS Catalina security update for those who are still running macOS Catalina.
