Jason Sudeikis repeated last year’s Golden Globes win, as the popular actor was named 2022 Best Television Actor in a musical or comedy at the Golden Globes, for his performance in Apple TV+ hit “Ted Lasso.”
Sudeikis’s 2021 win was the first-ever Golden Globes win for Apple TV+. It was also Apple’s only win out of several nominations.
“Ted Lasso” lost out for Best Musical/Comedy Series to HBO Max’s “Hacks.” “Tedd Lasso” supporting actor Brett Goldstein missed out on the Best Supporting Actor – Television category as O Yeong-su won for “Squid Game” on Netflix.
Hannah Waddingham was beaten to the Best Supporting Actress – Television category by Sarah Snook, for “Succession” on HBO. And “CODA” was a runner-up in the Best Picture Drama category, beaten by writer/director Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog.”
The 2022 Golden Globes awards eschewed the usual dinner party and awards ceremony, as the organization continues to deal with criticism after it was revealed that the 87 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association included no Black members.
Following that revelations, several media firms announced that they would no longer deal with the association. NBC decided to not televise the 2022 ceremony, although it will reconsider for 2023.
