The launch of the second-generation AirPods Pro is widely expected for the second half of this year. Apple suppliers are getting ready for shipment of the new high-end earbuds, says a new report from DigiTimes.
AirPods Pro 2 is rumored to feature a new design that does away with the short stem that comes out of the bottom for a design similar to the Beats Fit Pro.
The second-generation AirPods Pro is also rumored to use built-in sensors to add fitness tracking capabilities, along with a new chip that improves connectivity with devices. Apple’s AirPods Pro has not been updated since its 2019 debut, meaning it’s about time for a new version of the popular truly-wireless earbuds.
The second-generation AirPods Pro is expected to feature the ability to playback Apple Music lossless audio. Due to limitations in Bluetooth technology, Apple’s existing AirPods models cannot play playback lossless audio from Apple Music. Recently, an Apple executive said that the limitations of Bluetooth hinder the AirPods experience.
A redesigned charging case is also reportedly a feature, that can emit an audible tone from a speaker built-in to the case allowing for a louder noise to make finding the case a bit easier.
