Ming-Chi Kuo: iPhone 14 Will Feature 48-Megapixel Camera, Followed by Periscope Lens in 2023

Well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple will add a 48-megapixel camera lens to the iPhone 14 in 2022, adding a periscope lens to the 2023 iPhone 15.

Those predictions come from a research note with TF International Securities, shared by MacRumors today. Kuo said these iPhone camera upgrades over the next two years will help to boost Taiwanese manufacturer Largan Precision’s market share, revenue, and profit.

Kuo has previously claimed that the 48-megapixel camera will be limited to iPhone 14 Pro models and allow for 8K video recording, up from the iPhone’s current 4K recording capabilities. Kuo also previously claimed that iPhone 14 Pro models may support both 48-megapixel and 12-megapixel output, which is known as pixel binning.

Kuo also had words about the 2023 iPhone 15, saying Apple will give at least one iPhone 15 model a periscope lens. This will allow for significantly improved optical zoom.
