Apple will update three of its iPad models in 2022, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Affected models include the iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro models.
In Gurman’s latest “Power On” newsletter, He repeated Apple’s plans to release a new iPad Pro in 2022, which will feature a new design and wireless charging. He also clarified the Cupertino firm’s plans to release new versions of its entry-level iPad and iPad Air.
The entry-level iPad received a slight update this year, with an updated A13 chip, True Tone, and the addition of a 12MP ultra-wide front camera with Center Stage for video calls. Apple has released a new version of the base iPad each year, meaning it is due for an update in 2022. However, there have been no reports as to what new features the tenth-generation iPad might boast.
Rumors from earlier this year said a new entry-level iPad would feature a thinner design in a chassis similar to the iPad Air 3 and a larger display. However, that feature was missing on this year’s release. The thinner device chassis may make an appearance this year.
There have been rumors of an iPad Air boasting a Samsung OLDE display for 2022, The device was reportedly canceled, and the 2022 iPad Air will stand pat with LCD technology for at least another year.
Rumors about the fifth-generation iPad Air have been a bit lacking, but the iPad Air is likely to be brought up to specs with the iPad mini, which features the A15 Bionic chip, 5G connectivity, and Center Stage.
