Apple is now offering a new “Tracker Detect” app on the Google Play Store. The new app allows users to allow Android users to locate nearby AirTags.
The app’s description is as follows:
Tracker Detect looks for item trackers that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network. These item trackers include AirTag and compatible devices from other companies. If you think someone is using AirTag or another device to track your location, you can scan to try to find it.
Android users can scan the area to find nearby AirTag trackers if they think and AirTag or other compatible devices to track their location. The app is designed to ease fears that AirTags will be used to maliciously track an individual’s location.
An Apple Support document on the feature says that if you think someone is using an AirTag or another item tracker to track your location, you can scan to try to find it. If the app detects an AirTag or compatible item tracker near you for at least 10 minutes, you can play a sound to help locate it.
The Tracker Detect app for Android devices is free and is available in the Google Play Store.
