Apple on Tuesday released new firmware updates for the second-generation AirPods, the AirPods Pro, and the AirPods Max. All three models have been updated to 4A400 firmware, up from 3E751 for the standard AirPods, 3E756 for the AirPods Max, and 3E751 for the AirPods Pro.
Also released was new firmware for the Beats Solo Pro, Powerbeats 4, and Powerbeats Pro.
While Apple doesn’t officially announce information on what’s included in the firmware update, but reports indicate that the update adds expanded “Find My” integration that was first promised by Apple as an iOS 15 feature back in June.
There isn’t any way to manually update the firmware of the earbuds, and the new software will be installed over-the-air while the AirPods, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max are connected via Bluetooth to an iOS device.
If you place the AirPods in their case, connecting them to a power source, and then pairing them to an iPhone or iPad, they should update after a short period of time.
