Apple Releases Firmware Update for New Siri Remote

Apple has released a firmware update for the new Siri Remote, which is designed for use with the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD streaming boxes.

The new firmware has an internal version number of 9M6772. The prior firmware version was 9M6336. Please note, this is not the firmware version that you see in the ‌Apple TV‌ Remote settings.

Apple has not announced what’s new with the ‌Apple TV‌ remote update, but it likely offers bug fixes and performance improvements.

Apple has not laid out how to install a firmware update for the ‌Siri‌ Remote, but it likely works similar to how AirPods firmware is updated, delivered silently (but not deadly) over the air while the ‌Apple TV‌ sleeps. The firmware update is installed in the background and it may take some time for the ‌Siri‌ Remote update to be downloaded and installed. There is currently no known way to manually force the firmware update.
