Pegatron and Foxconn to Share iPhone 13 Mini Assembly Duties

A new DigiTimes report claims Pegatron and Foxconn will share assembly duties for Apple’s upcoming ‌iPhone 13‌ mini. However, Pegatron has seen orders for the smaller form factor ‌iPhone‌ reduce significantly this year due to lower-than-expected sales of the iPhone 12 mini.

Pegatron has obtained orders for the upcoming 5.4-inch iPhone model, as well as a portion of orders for another upcoming ‌iPhone‌ model that will feature a 6.1-inch display, according to market sources.

This year’s iPhone 13 mini is expected to be the swan song for the 5.4-inch iPhone model, as Apple is not expected to continue offering a “mini” model in the iPhone 14 lineup.

Well-connected analyst Ming-Chi Kup says Apple will offer two 6.1-inch iPhones and two 6.7-inch iPhones in 2022, so the standard ‌iPhone‌ 14 and the ‌iPhone‌ 14 Pro will be available in those two size options.

Apple had suspended its business relationship with Pegatron following revelations that the iPhone supplier was committing labor violations by allowing students to work overtime and nights, which is a breach of Apple’s labor rules.

Apple said at the time of the suspension the company not only knowingly violated Apple’s labor rules but went to “extraordinary” lengths to hide the activities.
