Apple will prove that it isn’t Triskaidekaphobic at all this fall, as its 2021 iPhone lineup will be known as the “iPhone 13” and will continue to use “mini,” “Pro,” and “Pro Max” terminology for its different models.
Supply chain checks by the Economic Daily News indicate that Apple will use the number 13 for the following collection.
A June 21 survey showed that 74% of respondents wanted to have the name changed to something else, though only one in five of those asked said they were superstitious about the number. The top alternate name suggested was “iPhone (2021)” with 38% of the vote.
Apple will apparently continue to use the existing names for the new models, including the 6.7-inch “iPhone 13 Pro Max,” the 6.1-inch “iPhone 13” and “iPhone 13 Pro,” and the 5.4-inch “iPhone 13 mini.”
Production timelines are believed to have returned to pre COVD-19 schedules, as shipments in the third quarter will be followed by a peak in production in the fourth quarter. Hon Hai (Foxconn) will reportedly be the main producer of iPhones this time around and is said to be handling all Pro Max orders, 68% of the “iPhone 13”, and approximately 60% of orders for the “iPhone 13 Pro.”
