According to a new rumor from Max Weinbach (via EverythingApplePro), Apple plans to equip the iPhone 13 lineup with a “slightly bigger” wireless charging coil. The move would not only offer higher wattage and better heat management, it could also offer reverse wireless charging.
The rumor claims that Apple has plans to increase the size of the physical wireless charging coil in the upcoming iPhone. That would increase the surface area where wireless charging can be induced. Weinbach previously said 2021 iPhones would feature stronger MagSafe magnets, which he says in his recent rumor that could be the reason behind the increased coil size.
The increased coil size could also be used for reverse wireless charging, says Weinbach, allowing iPhone users to charge compatible devices, such as AirPods by placing the accessory on the back of the iPhone.
