Bloomberg: Apple Boosting iPhone 13 Production in Expectations of High Demand at Debut

Apple is working to boost initial production of its upcoming iPhone 13 lineup to 90 million units through the end of the year for an increase of as much as 20% over the 75 million iPhone 12 units produced last fall.

The Bloomberg report also lists a number of expectations for the iPhone 13 lineup:

  • Identical four sizes as the current iPhone 12 lineup
  • A September unveiling
  • At least one model to boast an LTPO display to enable variable refresh rate
  • Smaller display notch
  • Camera upgrades will focus on video, including improved optical zoom
  • Upgraded chip based on the same 6-core design as the current A14
  • No in-display Touch ID

Bloomberg says that while Apple’s goal is to ultimately remove the iPhone’s display notch entirely, it looks like even the 2022 iPhone will still include one. It is, however, expected to be smaller in size compared to the ‌iPhone 13‌’s screen notch.
