Apple on Tuesday seeded the fourth beta of tvOS 15 to developers for testing purposes. The fourth beta comes two weeks after the release of the third beta.
The tvOS 15 beta is compatible with fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV models. The new beta can be downloaded to a compatible Apple TV that has the proper profile installed.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Apple TV, especially early betas of new operating systems. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
Apple hasn’t shared much about tvOS 15, but there are some new features that we know of. SharePlay, which is a FaceTime feature, allows multiple users to watch TV shows or movies together. A new “For All of You” recommendation engine suggests shows everyone might enjoy.
A Shared With You section also displays movies and shows that were shared with you through the Messages app. When paired with AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, the Apple TV supports Spatial audio for a theater-like surround sound experience. A new feature is available for automatically connecting your AirPods through Smart AirPods routing.
Users can pair two HomePod mini speakers with the Apple TV 4K for stereo sound, and HomeKit-compatible cameras allow users to view multiple cameras at the same time on the Apple TV.
