As announced earlier this month, WarnerMedia has launched its new HBO Max ad-supported $9.99 per month subscription tier. The ad-supported tier will save subscribers $5 per month off of the no-ads but $14.99 tier.
HBO says there will be fewer ads than on other ad-supported services. Warner Media executives earlier this month claimed that the ad load on HBO Max would be the lightest of any streaming service.
The new tier will include access to all HBO Max original programming plus the catalog of content from HBO, Warner Bros., DC, Turner Classic Movies, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and more. However, the $9.99 tier does not include access to same-day premiere film releases from Warner Bros. That access will require the full $14.99 subscription.
Ad-supported content is also limited to 1080p HD instead of 4K, and does not allow shows to be downloaded to watch offline.
In addition to the monthly $9.99 subscription option, the ad-supported tier is also available for $99.99 per year ($8.30 per month). The no-ads $14.99 per month tier is available for $149.99 per year ($13 per month).
