Google has announced that it is rolling out Google Fi’s VPN service to iPhone subscribers. The feature allows users to make their internet connection secure and private both on cellular and WiFi networks.

Google has announced that the Google Fi VPN feature would be available on iPhone this spring, so the rollout was a bit delayed. Not all iPhone Google Fi users will immediately have access to the VPN feature. However, the company says the new feature should be widely available “over the coming weeks.”

The VPN will allow users to connect to the internet over an encrypted, private connection. Users will be able to privately browse, stream, and download files without being monitored or logged by any third-party observers. The use of VPNs has grown over the past few years, due to privacy and security concerns, as well as the huge increase in folks working from home due to the coronavirus outbreak.
VPNs are particularly useful for iPhone users that regularly connect to the internet over unsecured public WiFi hotspots, such as those found in coffee shops, hotels, and other public locations. Hotspots are an attractive target for hackers who monitor other users’ online activity, attempting to steal personal information from other users’ online activities.
